Petro Registered for Tech College!
← Back to The Next Step
Petro has lived at The Next Step since October 2017. He'd been in a Lahu dormitory that was so poorly run it was eventually shut down by the social welfare department; a teacher at his school, a New Zealand friend from church, knew about The Next Step house and helped him move in. Petro's mother died when he was a toddler, and his father remarried and moved to the mountains of Burma/Myanmar, so Petro spent years in children's homes. He has an older sister, much older at 36, who lives in the same village Sorn is from, though the families didn't know each other before.
Like all the guys, Petro had a phone, but his got smashed on the road, so the house helped him buy a nice mid-level replacement. During summer break he worked hard on a neighborhood house-construction project and paid back what he'd borrowed for the phone in just two weeks, which impressed everyone. Petro went on to register at the Payap Technical College to study electronics, picking up his uniforms and books shortly after.
